Katie's Girl Scout Troop

After Thanksgiving dinner, my cousin's daughter Katie brought me a card.  She's just so cute and when I opened it, I saw the most awesome drawing of a turkey!  Katie and her Girl Scout Troop # 90887 had raised $500.00 that they were donating to COTA in honor of Mark!  They had sold baked goods  and sold magnets they had made with Mark's name on them in the break room at Step 2 and also during conferences at local schools.  So amazing that young children open their hearts up to others in need and accomplish fantastic goals!  I'm so thankful for her, the girls and everyone else that was involved for thinking of us and making our Thanksgiving extra special this year.  heart

Thanksgiving 2016

Hoping everyone had a nice Thanksgiving Day and enjoyed the weekend.  We are very thankful that we were able to spend this day with our family.  Mark and his sisters went with their dad in the morning to have dinner with his grandparents, brother and sister-in-law.  Mark brought hope a note stating he was thankful for the doctor's that are helping him get better.  He said that they all had wrote down what they were thankful for.  I asked him if anyone gave him that idea but he said that he thought of it.  He is still thankful for them even though they have to give him pokes and tests.  Later in the evening, Mark got to spend time with his sisters and me at my mother's house and all of his cousins.  I don't have an exact count, but I know there is at least 30 of us in all in one little house at the same time.  Once we got home the kids were so excited because they are finally allowed to watch a Christmas movie! <

Mark's Positive Attitude

I was doing the dishes yesterday and Mark looks at me and says something about his oxygen tube. Now he catches my attention. He proceeds to say when I see you, Brittani, Alayna, and Dad I forget all about it!  He's such a sweetheart!

Mark's Amazing Volunteers

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the wonderful group of people that have been putting lots of time and thought into helping Mark's fundraising a success! We are so lucky to have amazing family and friends that give their all and offer to do anything to help at a moments notice. They are appreciated more than I will ever be able to put into words. One thing that I didn't think about when we first started working with COTA was how the organization would bring us closer and give us a chance to spend more time together. We all get caught up in our daily lives and often just see each other on the holidays. I realize how lucky we are to get together and keep the traditions our grandparents started with us but we have such a large family that there isn't always enough time to get to talk to everyone. It's nice to be able to find some good in a sad situation and getting to spend a little bit more personal time with Mark's Volunteer team has really been a blessing.

Trick or Treat

We were lucky, it didn't rain until after trick or treat! Mark did have a wet and chilly ride home on his wheelchair from grandma's house up to ours but that was better than rain when we went home. Mark was the green arrow and lost his 1st arrow on the first shot of the night in the trees, we think! Mark's friend from the neighborhood came over and trick-or-treated with him which was a nice surprise. After the kids were done, we all went into grandma's house for food and heat! The kids had fun looking through their candy and I'm thankful we were all together for a fun time! Thanks Grandma Cheryl for letting us terrorize your home once again!!

1590 WAKR Radio

Thank you 1590 WAKR for having us! I was about to run and hide once we got off the elevator, I was so nervous and had no clue what I was really going to say. It was a great experience and Ray and Tony made it very comfortable!! Of course we were told to adjust our microphones once we sat down and yep, I broke mine. It fell right off the stand. Luckily, it was an easy fix and Tony quickly reattached it to the stand. Again, thanks 1590 WAKR so much for your time and support as well as my wonderful cousin Crystal who explained what COTA does and how they help families. I want to thank my loving sister Cassandra and sweet daughter Brittani for coming and getting me to walk through the door without a panic attack!

09/21/2016 (From Terrace Teter)

There are not enough thank you's to everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Mark and us as we went to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital Tuesday. I got the call at 8:30 in the morning and at 8:00 pm Mark was taken from us to go back for surgery, put to sleep, 4 more IV's placed and was in the waiting room with Cassandra and Kelly.
